this is the first of what I hope will be many looks at upacoming new custom maps. This is thanks to the hard work of Kerfluffle® !!!!! You rock!!!
Here's the first of the Counter Strike Rat map conversions. It's called Dod_deathcookin_rat. The original map was by Catfood.
Here's a shot from the allied side of the kitchen over to the Axis cupboards. Plenty of holes to hide.

I like the look of the map, a little brighter (I like brighter maps). Now this would be a fun map to see lots of rockets shooting across. Will spawn camping be allowed / possible in this one? Will there be a map overview also?
If you ever need someone else to play it with to test out how easy or hard it is to see / hit something, or to try and find exploits I don't mind lending a hand.

If you ever need someone else to play it with to test out how easy or hard it is to see / hit something, or to try and find exploits I don't mind lending a hand.
This map series will be pure conversions of Counterstrike rat maps. They were not originally for DOD:S play. I am converting them, in honor of Lin, into Dod:S maps. What that means in practical effect is that there are no flags (seeing as the original CS hostages are no more). Flags could be added, but they were not in the original maps.
In one of the threads here, I asked if people would like to see flags in the cdc_Rats_fixed map. The consensus seemed to be, "not really". Maybe the answer will be different on deathcookin.
To answer your question, yes, I do have a map overview. However, seeing as rat maps tend to be quite three dimensional in play, it will not show all pathways. I do not want to get into creating an orthogonal overview.
As to the screenshots, I did not do anything special.

Well we are about to find out. DJSpleen is in love. He is in love with the dod_cdc_rats_fixed map. He loves to find new kill zones on the map. He takes spawn killing to a new art form.
So how will DJ take to the map on the editor called "dod_cdc_rats_lightsout? The lights are out in the kitchen. The vermin can really come out and play.
Let's start out at Allied spawn, a fav killspot for DJ.

Of course, all of the fun is not on the Axis side. Let's climb the countertop air duct and look over at the Allied side.

As you can see color has become an important part of the map. The orange glow from the stovetop lights the central room. The spawn areas have an amber lighting.
Even the air ducts are all colored differently. Axis side ducts are ruby-lighted. Allied ducts are sapphire-lighted. The crossover stovetop duct is emerald-lighted.
Will Kerf get a splenectomy, or will DJ have a new favorite map?
